To Fill Or Not To Fill?

The biggest question we get is "Can we fill these gel extensions?"

The answer to that is loaded and can be yes or no

PROS

Cost-effective and time saving instead of having to redo a whole set, however, many places charge the same amount as fills can be just as time-consuming, if not more

You maintain the strength of the nail by reducing removal and prep

Fills are more recommended if it has only been about 2-3 weeks, and you are the type of client who does not like to grow out

CONS

If the growth is too much and the apex or structure of the nail is lost

If there is a lot of lifting, this is because you do not want any moisture to trap under the growth, and this can also be unhygienic.

Fills should be avoided if you want a new shape in general

If it has been more than 4+ weeks

Overall, Gel Extensions are a great option for anyone looking to grow their nails and keep their length or strengthen their nails. But remember, your nail tech will always choose the best option for your nails. Sometimes removing the gel extensions is helpful in seeing the overall health of the nail if it has been 5+ weeks. Other times, soaking off may be needed to have the nail have proper structure.  Having an apex is crucial in nail enhancements because it's the highest point, acting as the nail's "arch support" or stress point to provide structural strength, durability, and balance. So the answer to the question will depend on your specific situation.
